Seoul, Korea, August 31, 2022 - The fifth round of the ENEOS Super Taikyu series 2022 Powered by Hankook takes place from September 3 to 4. The Motegi Super Taikyu 5-Hour Race will be hosted at Mobility Resort Motegi.

Located in the eastern Tochigi prefecture of Japan, Mobility Resort Motegi is an internationally recognized circuit and the only circuit in Japan that consists both oval course also known as the Super Speedway, and road course. The total circuit length of the road course used for the Super Taikyu Series is 4,801 meters, and has 14 corners, with the maximum straight length of 762 meters.

Two key traits of the Motegi circuit are rapid accelerations and sharp braking. The course layout features a lot of stop-and-goes, providing a specific challenge for drivers to carefully and appropriately control acceleration and braking. Audience will be able to enjoy the rhythmical racing from such speed control of the drivers.

The five-hour race at Mobility Resort Motegi will have a 52 car entry list from 8 classes: 7 cars in the ST-X class, 8 cars in the ST-Z class, 2 cars in the ST-TCR class, 6 cars in the ST-Q class, 3 cars in the ST-1 class, 7 cars in the ST-2 class, 5 cars in the ST-4 class, and 14 cars in the ST-5 class. In order to adjust the number of participants, cars in the ST-3 class will not take part.

In addition, the Mobility Resort Motegi facility, where the five-hour race takes place, also equips amusement park, hotel, and Honda Collection Hall motor museum to offer plenty of fun for everyone from small children to adults.

The Super Taikyu Series was launched in Japan in 1991, and is now the largest Endurance Grand Touring (GT) Series in Asia. It offers extra enjoyment for spectators and fans by allowing not only race cars but also production cars that are modified into racing cars to enter the race. The 2022 season hosts 7 rounds in total on a span of 9 months from March 20 to November 27. Following the race at Mobility Resort Motegi, two more rounds will be held at Okayama International Circuit and the Suzuka Circuit.

All cars will race competitively on Hankook tires. Hankook has been taking part as a title sponsor and an exclusive tire supplier of the Super Taikyu Series since the last season. Hankook supplies two sets of its race tires to all participants that offer optimal support with impressive performance. As a dry tire and a high-tech slick tire, the Ventus F200 offers optimized driving performance including excellent durability and grip. For wet surface use, the Ventus Z207 effectively prevents hydroplaning for steering stability and maximized drainage performance.

Hankook Tire currently supplies racing tires to over 70 global motorsports competitions or teams around the world in dedication of expanding motorsports culture. As part, Hankook was designated as the official exclusive supplier and technology partner of the ABB FIA Formula E World Series, the world’s most prestigious electric vehicle racing competition, from the 2022/23 season when the Gen3 racing cars are introduced.
