Seoul, Korea, August 30, 2022 - Malaysia’s biggest local motorsports event, Malaysia Speed Festival (MSF), reached halfway of its 2022 season with global leading tire company Hankook Tire as the tire supplier and official sponsor. Hankook Ventus RS4 and Hankook Ventus TD Z221 semi-slick tire are provided to enable most exhilarating races throughout 2022 and support racers to bring out their full potential.

MSF has indeed been known for organizing national-level races for cars and motorcycles. It started in 2010 as Saturday Night Fever (SNF) with an aim to promote general motorsports scene and have racing fans at the grassroots level closely involved. Sanctioned by the Federation Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) and the Motorsports Association of Malaysia (MAM), the championship has become the leading local racing event in the country with over 270 cars and bikes, and over 300 drivers and riders taking part every year.

Among various race formats that the MSF hosts, Hankook Tire, as an official sponsor and tire partner, is supplying tires for MSF SuperTurismo, an affordable 4-wheel sprint racing series, and MSF Touge Hillclimb, an auto hillclimb competition where competitors endeavor to get to the top of the hill as fast as possible. All participants competing in these categories run either with Hankook Ventus RS4 or Hankook Ventus TD Z221 semi-slick tire.

Hankook Ventus RS4 has optimized tread contract rate per block, which maintains the best block stiffness at both street and circuit driving. It enables exciting races with its precise handling, high level of grip, excellent heat tolerance and durability. Hankook Ventus TD Z221 is a track day and competition summer tire, ideal for hillclimb. It delivers stability, braking, traction and control on the circuit in dry or wet. Hankook also provides race support and technical know-how on the race tires.

The MSF SuperTurismo is taking place at Sepang International Circuit since March. It’s split into four categories. Saga Cup and Production Series are running with Hankook Ventus RS4 tires while Super Series and Ultimate Series are running with Hankook Ventus TD Z221. Round 1 was held in March, followed by Round 2 in June. Round 3 and 4 scheduled for August and October are much anticipated.

For the MSF Touge Hillclimb, this year marks the first year of the event after a two-year postponement due to the COVID-19. The race at hill roads was officially flagged off on the 3km-long Bukit Putus road on August 7 with spectators watching in excitement and enthusiasm. This leaves fans await Stage 2 in October.

In addition to racing events, the MSF caters to the non-racer crowd with various activities including car shows, food trucks and waterpark, putting it as a fun festival for families.

“It’s thrilling to be the sponsor of the biggest motorsports race event in Malaysia as we always seek for opportunities to not only display our passion in motorsports but also help nurture motorsports culture. It’s also a great opportunity for Hankook Tire to increase our brand exposure, engage with fans and inherently display the performance of our tires,” says Sooil Lee, President and CEO of Hankook Tire & Technology.

Hankook Tire currently supplies racing tires to over 70 global motorsports competitions or teams around the world in dedication of expanding motorsports culture. As part, Hankook was designated as the official exclusive supplier and technology partner of the ABB FIA Formula E World Series, the world’s most prestigious electric vehicle racing competition, from the 2022/23 season when the Gen3 racing cars are introduced.
